Capitol rioter who crushed officer with shield gets prison


Patrick McCaughey III, who struck a police officer with a stolen riot shield during the US Capitol insurrection, was sentenced to more than seven years in prison by US District Judge Trevor McFadden. McCaughey was convicted of nine crimes, including felony assault charges, and described by the judge as a "poster child" for the January 6, 2021, riot.
