Cuban President Diaz Canel expected to win second term despite crises

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel is expected to be reappointed for another five-year term, after the Communist Party's control over the legislature last month. The country suffered from a series of disasters, including the pandemic and an unprecedented economic crisis. Diaz-Canel must now focus his efforts on overhauling Cuba's economic system, however, the task ahead is seen as a great challenge, especially after inheriting economic rigidity in his first term.
