Maui wildfires kill six as 'apocalypse' strikes Hawaiian paradise

Wildfires fanned by winds of Hurricane Dora have killed at least six people and devastated much of the resort city Lahaina on Hawaii's Maui island, with widespread destruction that officials said was too early to quantify. Panicked evacuees have posted images on social media showing clouds of smoke billowing over once-idyllic beaches and palm trees, while some people were forced to escape smoke and fire by jumping into the Pacific Ocean.
