Former U.S. President Donald Trump will face a criminal trial on Tuesday presided over by Manhattan’s criminal court judge, Justice Juan Merchan. This is not the first time that Merchan has been involved in cases involving people close to Trump. In 2021, the veteran judge oversaw the criminal case involving former Trump campaign adviser Steve Bannon, and in 2020, he also presided over a trial in which the Trump Organization was convicted of tax fraud.
