Thousands of Rutgers faculty go on unprecedented strike

Professors, part-time lecturers, and graduate student workers of Rutgers University went on strike due to a stalemate in contract talks ongoing since July. The three unions involved reportedly represent about 9,000 staff members of Rutgers. While classes remained open, picket lines were formed at Rutgers campuses in New Brunswick/Piscataway, Newark, and Camden.
