US wholesale inflation pressures eased sharply last month

US wholesale prices fell 0.5% in March from February, due to a decrease in energy costs, taking the annual growth to 2.7%. The drop in the producer price index, which measures charges by wholesale farmers, manufacturers, and wholesalers, is a sign that inflationary pressures may be easing after the Federal Reserve aggressively raised interest rates.
